Growth Mindset
"Not Yet"
Fixed vs. Growth Mindset

After viewing the videos assigned, to me it seemed that growth mindset is a mentality that people can use to achieve greatness or unlike their full potential. When listening to Carol Dweck's Ted Talk, "The Power of Believing That You Can Improve," it was interesting to hear that some school's will write a grade in as "not yet" rather than give a student a failing grade. I think the whole concept of having a growth mindset produces more results because it allows for a person to reach their full potential and even explore their skills further. This mindset does not discourage people, but instead gives them an opportunity to grow, hence the term growth mindset. If everyone had this mindset, they would be more open to society in general and perhaps it could allow for new innovation within our society. For example, implementing "not yet," into all school systems and fostering an environment of "you can do better," instead of "you did not do well enough."
I never knew about growth mindset until taking this course. It is always interesting to see new videos and read new articles about growth mindset. I also agree having "not yet" within our school system would be great rather than failing a student. Students are faced with challenges and one grade can affect our results, so having a 'not yet' I think would drastically impact students for the better.
