Indra

The storybook titled Indra: The Thunder God was extremely interesting because in the beginning of the story, the author explains how The Thunder God overlaps in multiple cultures. The author highlights the background of the God of Thunder and how we have come to know this God as Zeus in Greek mythology or even as Thor in Norse mythology. The story also explains that Indra is a savior for mankind, which also confirms the role of The Thunder God across other cultures. Indra: The Thunder God tells the tale of how Indra comes into possession of Vajra, which is a weapon that will be used in an attempt to defeat an evil serpent named Vritra. I will save some details for you to discover. My impression of this storybook was that it was a different and refreshing version from the Gods of Thunder that I have grown to know and their background stories.

Ganesha

Ganesha's Blog was an interesting read because it began with Ganesha's birth story. The author told this story from the perspective of Ganesha and immediately put an end to all misconceptions of how Ganesha was born or with what face. By this I mean that Ganesha was made with a human face and later on acquired the elephant face that people have come to recognize. Ganesha was made out of turmeric powder by Parvati because Parvati wanted someone who would be as loyal to her as Shiva's bull was to him. Usually parents want children so that they can continue their legacy and have someone else to love; not because of their undying loyalty. When continuing to the next tab, the author decided to elaborate on the most common story of how Ganesha obtained his elephant head. His father, Shiva, did not know that Ganesha was his son and cut his head off out of anger because Ganesha did not allow Shiva to enter the bathroom where Parvati was bathing. Parvati bargained with Lord Brahma and eventually, Ganesha was brought back to life with an elephant head.

Cinderella

The Fairytale World was very entertaining to read because each story was told from the perspective of the Princesses. My favorite story in particular was Cinderella's because in the story she addresses the assumption of her wearing a blue dress. Cinderella sees the cartoon picture of herself and acknowledges that while she does have blonde hair, she does not always wear a blue dress. I also thought it was comical when she was stating that a "fairy god mother" brought her into this world as if she did not know what that was. We all know that Cinderella does have a fairy god mother and has to be home when the clock strikes midnight. This blog post was overall my favorite because she is almost combating all of the stereotypes that we have associated her with. I also enjoyed the author mixing the tale of Cinderella with modern day activities like clubs.
